The HAGLAND FAMILY
By Jean Blake (née Hagland)
My family moved from Cardiff in 1950 my father went to work in Esso as a crane driver. My mother also worked there as a tea lady going round the site in a van .We lived on the farm at Rollstone road opposite the pub.
We lived in a caravan and our father built a log cabin joined to the caravan we got our water from the stream!! and had an Elson toilet outside. But they were such happy times helping on the farm. Our sister Susan was born while we lived in the caravan. Then we moved to Hythe 1956 into a new house my mother must have thought it was wonderful to have running water and electric light.
